The Sawyer's house is situated on the crest of a hill in the Lakemont community in Bellevue. Per neighborhood association mandate, several larger trees were recently removed from their front yard leaving some gaping holes.
Akina's tree specialists worked to remove the stumps so that we could create new planting beds. We also recommended removal of a large Rhododendron that blocked the centerpiece bay window and consequently their view of Lake Washington. After making these initial changes, we designed a new landscape, in accordance with neighborhood association parameters.
We used weeping Japanese Maples as anchor plants and tied the front yard together with a dry river creek. The Sawyers enjoy bulbs in the springtime, so we made sure to incorporate some Tulips, Daffodils, and Muscari, as well as several cold-hardy perennials. In the backyard, the Sawyers are fortunate enough to have a green belt along the length of their property. This, however, brings challenges of a furry kind! Therefore, we were sure to choose varieties of plants that deter the deer, rabbits, and even bears from munching on them.
After the installation was finished, the Sawyers immediately signed up for our annual maintenance service. That means their landscaping is under our constant care, an arrangement we all enjoy!
